Climate Solutions EJ style
“An investment of up to $8 billion through 2020 is what low-income and EJ communities just got from Governor Brown who signed SB 535 and AB 1532. The bills, which passed out of the California legislature in September, will provide needed economic stimulus of up to 25% of annual AB32 revenues to residents of communities most directly impacted by last century’s pollution-based energy system.
Mari Rose Taruc, APEN’s State Organizing Director says, “Immigrants and refugees have wanted to advance climate solutions in their local areas to solve both the environmental and economic crisis but haven’t had much support to do so until now.”
