New Moon, New Year – A Lunar New Year Zine

In January, I began putting together a Lunar New Year zine with the hope of bringing celebration and light to our community of donors.

We all had recently been shaken by devastating violence — the ICE killing of a father and community member in Los Angeles and the execution of a legal observer in Minneapolis. Today, we are once again carrying fresh waves of rage and grief as the United States widens its imperial war in Iran.

In moments like these, celebration can feel complicated, as our hearts are with those whose loved ones were taken too soon, and with the communities reeling from these brutal attacks.

And yet, one essential part of celebrating is honoring. Honoring our communities. Honoring our resilience. And yes, honoring those who have passed on, whose spirits stay with us as we continue to organize.

Amidst this heaviness, acknowledging our victories can bring us strength. We hope that, in this difficult moment, this zine can serve as a small glimmer of light — a reminder of what we’ve built together and what remains possible.

Thank you for your partnership — it sustains our work and strengthens our communities in times of both grief and celebration.
